Proof of Work vs sFUEL
Before proceeding with this section, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with both Proof of Work and sFUEL. If you still have questions, head over to the Discord |
Both Proof of Work and sFUEL enable an Externally Owned Account (EOA) — a wallet — to send a signed transaction to a SKALE Chain.
When to use Proof of Work?
There are a number of key uses cases that can use or even require Proof of Work.
Initial User Onboarding
One of the most important components of any application is onboarding. Proof of Work enables applications to remove the need to purchase gas entirely by allowing transactions to be sent without a gas token. Meaning that a PoW script can be ran once with the sole purpose of attaining sFUEL. Upon distribution, the user can utilize the application.
Proof of Work does not currently work with Metamask. An anonymous (or random) signer should be used. This opens up the door for invisible onboarding as no clicks are required by the user. |
